5 November 1887 There is a report of the crime in the County Express Saturday 5 November 1887 p.6 col.3: George Alfred Perkins (14), Level Street, was charged with stealing a rabbit, the property of Thomas Kay, Mill Street, on the 14th ult. The rabbit was missed from prosecutor's house, and prisoner was arrested. When charged by Police-constable Yates, prisoner said "Yes, I did steal the rabbit." The defendant had been living away from his father for two months. He was sent to Stafford for twenty-one days, and afterwards to a reformatory for three years.
   
10 June 1890 The Reformatory Committee Log Book report records that Perkins was discharged early from Saltley by order of the Home Secretary, on account of his emigrating to Canada, along with Williams [boy 845] and Newman [boy 840]
