| 22 October 1881 There is a report of the crime in the Birmingham Mail Saturday 22 October 1881 p.2 col.6: A GANG OP YOUNG THIEVES. George Grimes (13), Dymoke Street; Robert Harris (16), and James Harris (15), both of Hope Street; Samuel Hubbell (15), Sun Street; and Alfred Oldacre (15), Sun Street, were charged with stealing seven pigeon. and a rabbit, the property of various persons living in the vicinity of Bristol Road. - It was proved that the prisoners had stolen the birds and rabbit on several occasions. - Mr. Holloway, Industrial School officer, gave all the prisoners bad characters. - Mr. Holliday thanked the officer for assisting the magistrates in cases of that sort, and sentenced . Hubbell, Grimes, and James Harris to one month's imprisonment each, and four years in a reformatory, Robert Harris to one month's imprisonment, and Oldacre to two months. |
