Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

On the day George was killed his battalion were relieved in the trenches that were on the old German Brown line in and near to Guemappe by the 13th Bn King's Royal Rifle Corp and they then marched west to Achicourt near Arras. No mention is made regarding casualties but trench relief operations were often targetted by enemy fire. It is therefore assumed that George was killed during the relief.
