Circumstances of Death

Bertram is listed as having died of wounds at 10th General Hospital in Rouen on the 5th April 1918. He was undoubtably wounded sometime on or after 21st March at the start of the German Spring Offensive, however there were casualties on every day between the 21st and 31st March and the war diary does not list casualties by name and so we are unable to comment about the events that led to Bertram being wounded.
