The war diary seems to have a page missing and all that can be gained from the remaining page for the 23rd April 1917 is that the Battalion was in the lines just SE of Monchy le Preux and was involved in successful fighting to capture German lines just north of the Hindenburg Line and in particular String, Pick and Shrapnel trenches,
