Frederick is listed as being killed in action on 22nd November 1916. The 7th Battalion war diary is transcribed below. 22/11/1916 - Doiran Sector, Greece: 6pm. Weather dull and cloudy. Strength 29 Officers, 901 Other Ranks. Detached 8 Officers, 58 OR 1 OR struck off strength. 1 OR to hospital. 1 OR killed [Frederick] Observation Night: Enemy working parties active, a few shells were thrown over during the night. Observation Day: At10.20 enemy threw 8 HE shells on Basing Hill one dugout was blown in killing 1 OR [Frederick] Enemy lightly shelled our front line trenches at 1515 to 1600. END |
