On the day he was killed Fred's battalion took part in the successful attack on, and capure of, the village of Moorseele. Frank was one of four men killed during the attack.

Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

** Frank was originally buried in the La Veuve French Military Cemetery, St. Gibrien and the CWGC records suggest he was exhumed on 15 Jan 1924 and moved to La Cheppe.

On the 4th June 1918 the battalion were in the front line trenches in Bois d'Eclisse (Elcisse Wood) just west of Chaumuzy when they were hit by enemy artillery fire. Frank was badly wounded and never recovered from his wounds. He died the following day, presumably, given his burial information, in a French Military medical facility.

Killed whist flying a Sopwith Camel serial number B5623 on the Western Front when his engine failed on what was his second take off that day, he had been trying to find an enemy aeroplane that had been attacking British lines.

Harry is listed as being killed in action on 4 Jun 1917. The battalion war diary for that day is transcribed below.

Beaumetz 4/6/1917: No movement was possible in the front line by day and very little movement behind. The two platoons of the support Company were very heavily shelled in the afternoon - over 200 5.9's falling in their area.

Work was continued on the wire and improving the front positions each night.

Weather - a very hot day

Casualties:- 2 OR Killed; 3 OR Wounded.
