Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)           

Thomas was discharged from the Army on 15 Jul 1915, just 7 months after enlisting, his service record reveals that he had conjunctivitus, bad [eye]sight and a weak right ankle which prevented him from being fit enough to serve.

Thomas died on the 21 Jun 1918 in Ilmington and following an inquest on 24 Jun 1918 he was buried at St. Mary's Church on 26 June 1918. His death certificate states that he died of Syncope due to a weak heart.
