Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

The war diary for the period does not give any specifics about locations and casualties and so we are unable to say for sure when and where he was originally wounded but it may have been on the same day he died during the capture of Baghdad, see ** below.

39th Field Ambulance as part of the 13th Division and served at Gallipoli and Suez before moving to Sheikh Sa'ad in Mesopotamia (Iraq) on 12 Feb 1916, they took part in the Battle of Kut, the capture of Haj Salient, the capture of Dahra and the Passage of the Diyala.
