John is listed as dying on 25 Oct 1918 whilst a Prisoner of War. Red Cross records show that John died of Lung Disease on 25 Oct 1918 in a Hospital in Hildesheim Germany. He was originally buried in the Hildesheim Central Cemetery before his remains were moved to Niederzwehren in late 1922 or Jan1923. A list held by the National Archives shows that John was captured on 27 Aug 1914 near Ypres. A further list produced in 1916 shows that he was taken prisoner near Ypres. In Feb 1916 another Red Cross list shows John was being held at Dulmen PoW Camp. |
