Geoffrey is listed as being killed in action on 14 May 1917. The war diary for that day is transcribed below.Achiet-le-Grand 14.5.17: Spent in improving positions. 2pm heavy bombardment commenced culminating at 3.30am on the 15th in a heavy attack which was beaten off. Later on during the day [15 May 1917] the enemy was again seen massing for the attack. Sent one company to the 2nd/3rd and one platoon to 2nd/4th. These captured one Officer and 4 O.R. END
