Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)           

Edward is listed as dying of wounds on 18 Oct 1918 at the 47th General Hospital in Le Treport. We have not yet identified when or where he was wounded but we have found a [Medical] Progress Reported dated 6 Oct 1918 which states that he was in the 47th General Hospital with a Gunshot Wound and that his condition had changed from Seriously Ill to Dangerously Ill. The report can be found below.

He is also mentioned in a Leamington Courier Newspaper Obituary dated 25 Oct 1918.

Cubbington

DIED OF WOUNDS: Tpr Edward Wm. Green Wiltshire Yeomanry (attached Oxford and Buck L I) died of wounds last Friday in the 47th General Hospital, France. He was the younger son of Mrs. W.H. Green of Church View, Cubbington and was only 19 years of age.

Before the war he was in the teaching profession, and as a Student Teacher gave great promise that his future would be one of distinction. END
