Circumstances of Death

John is listed as dying of wounds, to his hands, feet & abdomen, received in action on 19th September 1916 at the 34th Casualty Clearing Stations in Meaulte. Hands, feet & abdomen. He had been wounded earlier on the same day at Guillemont.

Guillemont - 19 Sep 1916: Capt Mallen & Kennedy relieved by Capt Denning & Davidson and 30 men relieved.

Ford Cars [Ford Model T] are only working up to S.29.d.7.5.

Pte Burn killed, Lewis, Wilson & Bowen wounded.

Fair number of casualties. Loading ? moved back to T.19.a.9.4. & finally o T.19.c.4.2. Heavy rain, ground impassable, dug outs swamped. HA wagon with 10 horses getting bogged are ? now at T.19.c central, T.91.c.7.3.
