Surname

William's last name is spelt Abel in birth, baptism & census records but his military and War Grave records all record his last name as Able

Circumstances of Death

Walter was wounded at some stage in and on 11 May 1915 he was admitted, as Pte 964 Royal Warwick's, to the Dundee War Hospital and discharged on 22 October 1915. He was then transferred to the Worcestershire Regiment.and later discharged from the Army as medically unfit to serve.

On his discharge he was given a Silver War badge #19811 which was issued 29.6.1916.

However Walter actually died of Pulmonary Tuberculosis at his home on 30th April 1920.

We have not found his name on any war memorial in Warwickshire or further afield.
