Circumstances of Death

Rex is listed as being killed on 8 Aug 1918 and a newspaper report in the Warwick Advertiser reveals that Rex was killed in the same accidental explosion as 1st/7th Bn CSM David Field. The two Sergeants were inspecting an old Austrian shell which they believed to harmless and threw it on the ground causing it to explode and he died as a result of injuries received.
