Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

The battalion had been based at Sailly-Sur-La-Lys since 18 Nov 1914 and remained there until 28 Jan 1915. No entry was made in the war diary for the day Harry is listed as being killed, 20th December 1914 nor for the 21st and we believe that he was killed in the heavy fighting at La Cordonniere Farm near the Sailly-Fromelles Road on the 18th December when the battalion suffered 123 casualties in attacks on the enemy positions in the area.
