Circumstances of Death

Reginald is listed as being killed in action on 18th January 1916. The 18th Battalion war diary entries for the period 17th to 19th January are transcribed below.

Annequin North – 17 Jan 1916: Brigade front is regularly shelled for a short period each day and the front line suffers from “Minnie “ [German Trench Mortars]. German aeroplanes prevented our howitzers from replying most of the time.

Annequin North – 18 Jan 1916: Similar state of affairs. General Landon went around the lines.

Annequin North – 18 Jan 1916: Firing line Coys relieved by C (A) and D (B) in the afternoon. German artillery and aeroplanes are very active here than elsewhere in our line but so far Minnie has not trouble us today and our howitzers have been very energetic.
