Circumstances of Death

Frederick is listed as dying of severe head wounds on 24th October 1916. He was buried at Merville Communal Cemetery which was used for burials by the 7th and 54th Casualty Clearing Stations. Unfortunately the 2nd/6th war diary does not give any details of casualties at all for the month of October and therefore we cannot comment on the events leading to Frederick being wounded.
