Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)

Ernest was discharged on 30 Sep 1917 at Beverley after catching Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) in the trenches. Ernest is buried in Newport, Wales and shares a war grave with William Basford of the Liverpool Regiment. It is highly likely that they are being treated for TB in a nearby TB Asylum.
