Circumstances of Death

Henry is listed as being killed on 11 Sep 1918. The 2nd Battalion war diary does not mention any casualties for the three day period 10th to 12th Sept but a report in the Stratford Herald states he was killed by the premature explosion of a trench mortar charge. Both sources are transcribed below.

Arleux Loop 11/9/1918: Lieut W.L. Clegg reported missing 27/5/1918 officially accepted as Prisoner of War. 14864 Pte G. Rockley reported missing 25/3/1918 escaped from territory occupied by enemy, arrived in UK 22/8/1918.
