Original Enlistment
From his service number 7945, we can say that he enlisted sometime between 2 Feb 1906 and 20 Feb 1907 when numbers 6858 and 8011 were issued.
Circumstances of Death
| We believe that James was listed on the St Nicholas & Eleanor Cross memorials because he was erroneously thought to have died. One of his Military records lists him as deceased whilst others show that he survived and was discharged on 15 Apr 1915 after suffering gunshot wounds to the arm. Before the war started he both of his parents had died and had moved to Nuneaton and died there in 1944 which may explain why he was mistakenly thought to have died. |

- We obtained a copy of James's birth certificate which shows he was born James Ignacius Lamb to Patrick John and Mary Ann Lamb at
45 Brook Street, Warwick. The soldier, James Lamb also of the KRRC, named on the Warwick War Memorial Project website was born
in Liverpool.
