Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)
William is listed as having died of his wounds at the 2nd Casualty Clearing Station at Bailleul on 9 Nov 1914. The war diary shows that the Battalion were in the front lines at Bois du Ploegsteert from the 2nd November and that men were wounded every day, the names of the wounded are not given and so it is not possible to say when he was wounded, however the Warwickshire Roll of Honour book states that he was shot through the jaw on 7 Nov 1914 and died two dates later on the 9th.
