Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)
War diary suggests that on 25 Sep 1915 Harry was one of 171 men wounded in the attack on German lines near the Quarries at St. Elie. During the attack the battalion succesfully captured the enemy front line and support trenches before capturing the Quarries. Later in the day they had to retire due to the retirment of the 9th Division on their left. He died 7 days later on 1 Oct 1915 at the 10th Stationary Hospital, St. Omer.| Personal & Family History |
