Circumstances of Death

The Register of Effects for James states that he died of wounds but his Soldiers Who Died in the Great War record states that he was killed in action. The war diary indicates that the Battalion did not suffer any casualties on either or the 19th or 20th April and he is buried at Wimereux which was a Military Hospital centre on the coast near Boulogne which is 95km from Kemmel where the war diary states Battalion were in the days before April 20th. However we cannot be certain of where and when he was wounded before being evacuated to Wimereux and therefore no war diary transcription has been carried out.
