Circumstances of Death

Edward is listed as dying of wounds on 31st July 1917. He was buried at the Achiet-le-Grand cemetery which was used by the 45th and 49th Casualty Clearing Stations for their burials. 

We have not been able to identify when Edward was originally wounded and therefore cannot comment on the circumstances behind his being wounded. In the period leading up to his death the 2nd Battalion were in the front lines near Ecoust which is SE of Arras and SW of Cambrai.
