  • Henry survived the torpedoing of HMT Leasowe Castle
  • A potted history of the 100th Battalion Machine Gun Corps can be found here including details about the Battalions actions in the Battle of Epehy. It was formed in 1918 from Warwick Yeomanry and South Notts Hussars units and returned to France from Eygpt.

Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)           

Henry is listed as being killed on 20 Sep 1918 during the Battle of Epehy. The war diary for the 20th is transcribed below and from it we have concluded that Henry was the only man to be killed on the 20th:
 
"Coys remained in their positions all day, at night A Coy took up following positions. A battery to F3.C.0.8 to barrage from X.28.d.6.5 to F4.b.7.6; B Battery to F9.g.0.9 top barrage from F.4.g.8.2 to F.5.g.4.4; D Coy assisted in attack on The Knoll, Infantry failed to gain objectives and D Coy returned to St. Emilie and took up positions SOUTH of St. EMILIE-RONSSOY ROAD for defence in depth. ? 1 O.R killed  2 O.R wounded"
