Circumstances of Death

War diary shows that the battalion were in trenches NE of Ypres when Percival was killed in action. His Dulwich College obiturary states that a shell exploded very close to where he was sitting in the trench. The very brief 3rd Battalion war diary entries for the period 31st July to 1st August 1915 are transcribed below.
