Circumstances of Death

Harry is listed as being killed in action on 5th September 1917 and the Leamington Courier (see below) reported that he had been "killed instantaneously by a shell while he and his comrades were brewing tea". The 182nd Company war diary states that the Company was stationed in the Wieljte Sector at the time he was killed.
