Military Medal Award
It appears that Thomas won his Military Medal for his actions on 20 Jul 1917 when a shell burst killed and wounded a number of his colleagues, including Arthur Standbridge. Source - The Great War Forum
Circumstances of Death

Thomas is listed as dying of wounds on 12 Sep 1917. The 126th Brigade War diary suggests that Thomas died the same day that he was wounded at the 17th Casualty Clearing Station at Ana Jana Siding, Ypres. The war diary entries for the 12th is transcribed below. There are no reports of casualties during the preceeding days. H2 Central - 12/9/17: Bomb from hostile aircraft dropped on 2/1 Warwick Wagon Line, killing the B.S.M and wounding 11 OR. |
