Albert is listed as being killed in action on 14 Oct 1917 while attached to the 34th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. The 34th Brigade war diary entry for that day is transcribed below and it indicates that he was killed by Gas. Ypres - Oct 14th: Batteries ordered to establish ammunition dumps at Gun position of 1500 rounds per 18 inch gun and 1000 rounds for 4.5 howitzers. 50th Battery shelled during the night with Gas shells incurring 21 casualties. 21 OR reiforcements arrived. |
