Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)           

William is listed as being killed in action on 12 Nov 1916, the battalion war diary for the day shows that they were in the front line trenches (Bennet; Germany; Miracle and a support trench) at Les Boeufs. No other details are given but they were being regularly shelled and other sources say that William was killed by a shell explosion. Casualties on the day were 8 killed and 10 wounded.
