Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)
On the day he was killed, 22 Apr 1917, the 16th Battalion were in reserve at La Chaudiere Trench in position to be in support of the 1st Bn Norfolk and 1st Bn Bedfordshire regiments who were to attack and capture German trenches to the north on the 23 Apr 1917. No casualty figures are given for the day.
