Circumstances Leading to Death (Normally from War Diary)
Although not confirmed it is most likely that Charles was wounded in action on 26th Oct 1917 during the 2nd Battalions attack on enemy positions oppostite the British Front lines in the area of Irish Farm, Ypres which cost them casualties of 7 officers and 301 "other ranks". He is buried at Dozinghem Military Cemetery which was used for burials by the 4th, 47th and 61st Casualty Clearing Stations, it has not been established which one Charles died at.
