Circumstances of Death
| James is listed as being killed in action on 9 Apr 1918. The 2nd/6th Battalion war diary states that on 3rd April 1918 the battalion were sent to by lorry to Saisseval and then refers to a report covering the period 4th to 12th April. The 9th April is not mentioned in the report. On the 4th the Battalion took up defensive positions in the front lines at or near Pacaut where they remained until the 12th April 1918.
