Circumstances of Death
|
Joseph was admitted to 3rd Casualty Clearing Station, Puchevillers on 11th November 1916 and was placed in the Sick Convoy (see Chain of Evacuation) the following day on 12th November 1916 and he eventually ended up at a Voluntary Aid Detachment Hospital in Northampton where he died on 16th December 1916, having failed to recover from the amputation of a wounded leg. We cannot be certain exactly when Joseph was wounded and war diary for the periond 1st to 11th November makes no mention of casualties. |
